I'd only use a gun if it was for the defense of my family or close community. I.e. what Korean Americans did in the '92 L.A. riots.
If I fought for Brazil i'd be fighting for interests and a bloodline that are very different from mine.

While national identity is fundamental, nationalism is a spook. A country the size of Brazil should dismember itself politically, federalize as much as possible.
Germany and Italy, for example, existed way before its de facto countries. I'm a colonist, of Northern Italian descent, before i am Brazilian. The decisions the big wigs make in Brasília are not mine. Our langage is pretty much the same, lifestyle is very similar, but we do not need to be held accountable for each other.
