Sloveni, Slovini, Slovani, Slovane, Slowienie came from 'sloviti' which means 'speak.' It refers to people who understand each other, who speak same or very similar language. On the hand Germans spoke different/alien language, and they were labeled as mute (not in literal sense). Because of that Slavic people call Germans Nemci, Nijemci, Niemcy, Němci, Немцы etc.

you have two kind of slavs ,the ones who have been latinized and catholized and the other ones under the cyrilic and christian orthodox influence, and maybe it's made a strong difference, shaping you way of speaking/thinking/acting in different ways
if you look at the differences between the byzantine and the holy germanic empire it's made a huge difference

Most of them are similar to Serbs. They are both definitely paler than Anatolians or Greeks.

I have seen dark croats and light, but most of them imo are pale with light brown to brown hair, i guess those at the Coast lite tend to tan better the others.. If I could guess 70-80% ish looks more Central european/ East european and 20-30% ish looks Med/ Balkanic or what ever we are calling it... feel free to correct me.. this is just my observation
