Spanish is also a cool ethnicity and I also have Spanish ancestry. That isn't enough to call myself Spanish though (from Andalucía or Extremadura or whatever). In fact, most Spaniards especially on TA would probably take it as an insult if I called myself Spanish.

Yes, you're not Spanish. To be Spanish (or German, Irish, etc.), you have to be raised in the culture, and to be properly raised in the culture, you would have to be raised in Spain. What you are is Peruvian who obviously has Spanish ancestors (and maybe perhaps recent Spanish ancestry?), and I'm sure you're proud of being Peruvian. When I came back to the forum after a period doing super cool awesome stuff, the first thread I took part in was alnortedesur's thread where he was claiming to be Spanish because he had a Spanish parent. He is actually a Venezuelan-American with recent Spanish (parent) and distant Italian ancestry. He was not accepting of this reality.

I'm ethnically Spanish (specifically Galician) but not an actual Spaniard. I was not raised in Spain. I was raised in the US, so my cultural influences are very different from those raised in Spain. I'm culturally very different from an actual Spaniard.
