Interesting. Rather high Siberian and rather low Baltic components as for central Belarussians. Can he be from Cuman volost?: https://history.wikireading.ru/277538

Looks (partly) non-local. Belarus had a million Russians (people from Russia proper) coming there to settle, especially after WW2 and in the subsequent decades. Also a sizeable number of Ukrainians. In the capital Minsk such people were especially common. According to the brand new census of 2019 self-reported Russians still make up 7.5% of the population, although recent ancestry from Russia proper is likely even more common.

Belarusians and ukrainians are very symmetrical in genetics. I saw the ukrainians, who were shown the belarusians in the first places. Muscovites already have genetics identical to me))

If you want a good proxy for southern Ukrainians use Kuban Cossack results, because they are the best representatives of the south before more recent influxes from the north and Russia. Kuban Cossacks are almost entirely Zaporizhian Cossack descendants.
I don't get why this is repeated on here so much, Jews were literally everywhere in urban Ukraine nothing about Odessa was special. Where my grandfather was born was 70% Jewish, so much more Jewish than Odessa. This is just used by Russians on here to explain why Russians from the area are often real dark, but the reality has to do with the fact that Odessa was founded by the descendants of Zaporizhians who were exiled from their lands. Some of those who didn't migrate to the Kuban or become state peasants ended up around the Danube - those eventually founded various cities in the south.
But the problem here is you need to know the ethnic composition of this region for it to make sense, for example between west and central Poltava there is a huge different. Between western Kirovgrad and eastern Kirovgrad there's also a huge phenotypical difference. You need to know which regions are predominated by Russians etc. The surname method makes no sense, a lot of those surnames will come from the Dnieper because the Cossacks were partially formed by peasants running away from the right back of the Dnieper. But they mixed with different populations in the Steppes based also around location..
Not at all, that Mykolaiv sample is clearly someone of predominately Russian ancestry. Mykolaiv is largely a mix of Cossack descendants + North Ukrainians and Russian migrants. Something more similar to the average Odessa results would work, but that's what I mean, how can someone that doesn't know the ethnic composition of Ukrainians present this? When they're presenting an ethnic Russian as a typical southern Ukrainian. It makes no sense. The problem is there isn't enough genetic testing in these regions too, the vast majority of Ukrainian samples are from western Ukraine.
