Not my grandfather`s, but from one of my great grandfathers. His Kar98 rifle (sadly made unusable because laws) and his medals. His uniform is neatly stored away at my grandmas, since the only one who`d be able to wear it is my youngest brother, who doesnt have interest in it. (Both my brother and great granpops are/were 6.5ft/2 meters tall for info)

One thing i did spend some serious cash on was a good pair of boots. The first few winters I wore those traction chains you put over your shoes. They worked fine for their intended purpose. But they were a pain to deal with when you went indoors. You had to take them off and secure them. Even worse they would tear up my shoes.

Don't wear those thick feather coats, unless you're some female with blood circulation problems.
Get a more warm leather jacket, like Shearlings.
