I think this was probably a mixture of his psychopathy, a bit of the misogyny in his culture/religion, the woman looking past red flags in the beginning, etc. but I think his income had nothing to do with.

Rich people are more classy? That's genuinely an unhinged belief to have. Lots of poor people have a great moral character, and lots of rich people are spoiled by their lifestyle and have rotten hearts. My grandpa was quite successful and wealthy by the standards of the time/place he lived, yet he abused my mom and grandma and cheated on my grandma constantly. My marriage started off with us being quite poor but no trashy behavior whatsoever.
