Modern leftists would believe the moon is made out of cheese if it was printed in textbooks. They believe in evolution not because they understand it but because they are conformists, far from the original revolutionnary definition (progress vs the king).

They often contradict evolution principles without realizing it, as if humans would be of all the species, one without races and marked differences between them, that never went through selections and pressures for different attributes and level of intelligence, while ironically being the most specialized at it on the planet. Same applies to gender, they now negate a lot of the biology and evolutionary psychology aspect of it.

Evolution is a fascinating study beyond just the huge amount of evidence that corroborates it. The History of how it has been accepted and has had no legitmate challenges. The challenges have only strengthened it.

It isn't as bloody as the History of the Heliocentric model of our Solar System. No Brunos were martyred. But it is more compelliing siince it happened well into the Age of Reason. Most people were past superstition by then.
