I used to live there.. I miss it sooo much.. I used to live near rue saint laurent , in that area.. but further away from the port and China town... disgusting!!

If you've taken the métro .. back me up on this.. doesn't it sound like a trumpet sounding whenever it starts to move?? It can't be me imagining it for all these years.. a conspiracy of patriotism....

LOL! The trumpet thing eh? Ahh Veritas, now I'm gonna have to make a special trip to Montreal just to ride the Metro and check this out.

The west is mostly anglo which is why it doesn't have the same flavour as the other sites... still.. My favorite spot is Notre-Dame de Montréal Basilica.. overcrowded all the time with tour buses but there's a cafe I like to sit at and look at the statues.. Especially my favorite is the statue of Lambert Closse and his dog Pilote Minus the depiction of the Iroquois... "Noble Savage".. my arse.. But the whole atmosphere of the area conjures up... Home..

I surely hope that you went to visit Quebec City and Ottawa while you stayed in Canada?

I visited Quebec city, it is very beautiful too, but not with a night life sufficient for me who likes to party a lot. I'd say Quebec city worth a visit for a weekend, but that is all. Relatively small city compared to Montreal.
I didn't stay in Ottawa, or Toronto, unfortunately. Only been in New York for a week, great city too. The muds there didn't even bother me.

Did you find us, the franco-Canadians anyway very different from the francophones back home? Was it a bit of a culture shock for you when you got here, Pierrick?

A bit yes, but not that much, the quebecer are a mix between the French - mainly for the language - and the American for the culture (only in Montreal, in northern quebec, its pretty different).
