    White Croat!

On a serious note, my parents are from Argentina, but my grandparents are all from western and central Poland. My dads side is actually very interesting. Because his dad claimed they came from Croatia in late 18th and that they're were Orthodox Croats (is that even a thing??), but since there was no Orthodox church in western Poland they became Catholics, but I did Y-DNA test and all people in my I-PH908 branch are from Serbia?

I don't know what to think, I'm confused.

We do it for fun or curiosity to see how it fleshes out with our ancestry.

An odd story. However, an Orthodox Serbocroatian speaker usually is a Serb. So that would fit well.

Isn't then even your surname mediated by the said individual?

They could have been ethnic Serbs from Croatia with Croatian identity, it was not rare back than. Or Croatian converts to orthodoxy, but I find that less likely (it was more common in Bosnia). Interesting family history btw. I have lot of relatives in Chile and Argentina as well.

It's even less likely that a convert by chance shows up in a YDNA subclade surrounded by Serbs.

Funny results from my tiny island which shows how Dalmatian Islands are unique microcosmos:

fully native Islander and my distant relative from main village generations back:

    Target: Main_Village
    Distance: 0.0217% / 0.02168493

    49.0 Proto_Slav
    26.6 Keltic
    18.2 SE_Euro
    4.4 Old_German
    1.8 Eurasian

quite different results to another distant relative of mine (Rest in Peace! - lady passed away recently ), who is also fully native Islander, but from separated sub village. Why it matters? Because in that sub-village people came 300 years ago from nearby island. They are still considered somewhat foreign (lol) and people from main village rarely intermarried with them (it was frowned upon).

    Target: Sub_Village
    Distance: 0.0263% / 0.02627921

    68.6 Proto_Slav
    31.4 SE_Euro

as shown, sub village sample is pretty different from main village one.

Yes, but Serbs are extremely overtested (and have own DNA project), Croats much less. If we knew the surname it would be more clear.
