Eurogenes Biogeographic Ancestry Project

I made maps based on the K12 averages provided by Day Tripper.

I just want to note that because of the small number of populations, and therefore data dots, the maps are a bit less reliable than usual, and some areas like the Alps or the Balkans and Anatolia are not reliable at all, and are better left ignored for now.
Also, I attempted a slightly new way of representing things (if you are not fond, I can always give versions with the original aesthetics, ocean visible etc...)

Southwest Asian

Probably quite recent in Europe, brought during historical times from the Middle East I would say.

Caucasus

Classical Caucasus component, seems to have spread out with yDNA J2.

Mediterranean

E1b1b, G2a Maritime neolithic, quite evidently. Cardium?

Volga-Ural

Obviously lacks data points among Russian Uralics. Not too different from South Baltic

South Baltic

Quite typical repartition again, well connected to R1a and the Balto-Slavic realm.

North Sea

Seems to follow Celto-Germanic expension very accurately (note the relatively high level in Portugal when compared to Italy). We have no Basque average, but I predict a dip in North Sea values among the Basques. Also, I would expect a visibly higher North Sea in Northern Italy than Central Italy.

Western Euro

Seems to indicate pre-Celto-Germanic but Beaker admixed native Western European components.
The higher value in Russia is not as significant as the map would suggest (only ~2% higher than its Slavic neighbours, and I believe is most likely due to the more cosmopolitan nature of Russia compared to Ukraine or Lithuania).

As an eye-candy a map representing the relative preponderance of the different Northern European components (Western, North Sea, South Baltic and Volga-Ural) around Europe, when assigned colours from a colour scale (so that the distance on the visual spectrum is roughly similar to the distance in terms of relative preponderance of the components).



And finally a series of extrapolations on the MDS of the components to illustrate the hypothesis I formulated above with the maps.

These are great maps showing the admixture components in various populations! It's very similar to the Dodecad ones that were made a while ago so you can correlate and cross-reference the two.

There is a new Oracle for Harappa, MDLP, and Dodecad, but the Eurogenes one says unable to load population data. I'll post my results when it's working.

Now i have more time and i can post better my K12 from Eurogenes.


As you know (probably), in this scheme the components mean :

West European (=w. Ireland)
North Sea (=s. Norway)
South Baltic (=Lithuania)
Mediterranean (=Sardinia)
Caucasus (=Georgia)
Volga-Ural (=W. Volga)
SouthW. Asian (=Beduin)
Siberian (=central siberia)

Etc.

for me the oracle says (79) ERROR: Reference data not found.

After getting the "unable to load population data" message I tried again sometime later on and instead of that I got "(79) ERROR: Reference data not found".
I tried again today and now it doesn't even have the oracle button in the bottom left corner anymore.

I think I read a comment in the ABF forum thread the other day where Polako (Davidski) said he wasn't going to do the oracle.
I don't know which thread he brought that up in, if it was his Eurogenes thread or one of the many other DNA threads he posts in.
