I support anything like a thumbs up, but the thumbs down feature was the worst thing to happen to this site due to trolls. Gets me pretty pissed off when people thumbs me down for nothing. *cough cough* Ultra and Hevo *cough cough*.

Giving someone thumbs down just because you dislike their viewpoint is just silly IMO.

Thumb down system adds nothing to the forum, other than something to be used as a weapon to annoy others.

It hinders some people from posting what they feel, due to being massively thumb downed by others as a means of retaliation. And, since it's a mean of disagreeing without requiring a justification, it does a diservice to promote posting and debate between opposing ideas. Obviously it does not prevent you from doing so, but since it helps getting the point across (aka: I REALLY DISAGREE WITH YOU), I've noticed that sometimes people don't try as hard to justify why they disagree..or sometimes people just get angry at getting a thumb down, and the discussion goes downhill.

It is more silly to thumb someone down just because you don't like their religion (for example), and it has nothing to do with the post whatsoever! That is some of the abuse I am talking about - and that Ballist, f.e. has been getting.

Obviously disliking a certain user, their religion or their views are no reason to give them a thumbs down either.
