If the USA (Israel) goes for war with Iran, who will you support?

We are probably damned if we do and damned if we don't. Only hindsight will give this one perspective, and we may still be arguing the outcomes and alternative histories for a hundred years.

I find it difficult to swallow that the score in this poll is an accurate reading of anything significant in the Truth department if voters really did some tough soul-searching. I bet you, dollars to doughnuts, that most of you who voted in this poll are well below 30 years of age and are voting based purely on an emotional(ly charged if not wholly misguided, or perhaps even irrational) hatred of the USA and its present-day foreign policies. It's disheartening that the collective European memory is so short these days. I'm not suggesting that Europe and her countries should kiss America's ass, not by any means. But I do remember a time when lead being shot up some Europeans' butts did warrant a huge thank you to the USA from some then very grateful European nations and their peoples for the USA's military interventions. Perhaps that little bit of collective European memory should be rekindled for all of our sakes.

And now, on a different note:

As good of a question this has been for fostering good debate, Zephyr, I do think that your wording, suggestive of the USA not being able to make a move without Israel, is not only artificial but also grossly unfair in this discussion. The last I heard, these two nations were separate sovereign states. They are allies, yes, but that's as far as it goes. By having created the notion in the reader's mind that the USA/Israel is an entity unto itself, you have now given every anti-semitic nutter on this forum an opportunity to discuss this as being a question of "Do we support the Jews or do we support the Muslims?" as opposed to what the issue should really have been about: "Do we support a continued appreciation of the ideals of the Western World or are we ready to give up the fight altogether and openly accept, if not wholly welcome, a different worldview or even cultural hegemony?"

Just my two cents anyway....
