Default Why Don't Russian's Speak A Germanic Language?

The original Rus were Varangian, Scandinavian colonists. All the early leaders of both Kievan Rus and Novgorod were Germanic including Rurik and Oleg.

This begs the question of why Germanic colonists were successful in imposing their culture and language in Anglo-Saxon England but not in Russia?

Was it "Norman syndrome," e.g. Were the colonists overwhelmingly male and did they marry local, more numerous, Slavs?

Because russian women have stolen their minds and slavisied them.
Think most russian women are expert at this,twisted/stealing minds of males.
They are also very beautiful, think old russian women were even more beautiful.

    EDIT:
The history they were invited to lead slavs there, but who could be so out of minds to go to rule over eastern slavs, who
were fighting between them all the time?

Think some wise eastern slavs choosed some very beautiful eastern slavic women, taught them norse language and sent them to twist the minds of best chieftain and his man, they would find and Scandinavia.
So it seems they were quite succesfull.

You can as well ask why don´t the French speak a Germanic language, because France is named after the Franks a Germanic people.

Yes, I do believe that Scandinavian vikings played a part in the formation of the Russian state.

Concerning the name "Rus", it is believed to come from the Finnish name for Sweden "Ruotsi", but this is only a theory.

Only the males were scandos, from first generations of "rus" their wives were mostly eastern slavs, with few exceptions.
Go figure, how these people got to lead eastern slavs, because they adopted from first generation slavic language and slavic customs.

Big difference here. Entire nations (Angles, Saxons, Jutes) moved to England and massacred pre-English inhabitants fiercely.

In Kievan Rus it was mainly a ruling Scandinavian hierarchy coming in, and as far as I know there weren't widespread settlement of Vikings in Russia.

The Varangian Rus elite was assimilated by the local Slavs who were numeours compared to the small Viking elite. The same happened with the Bulgar elite in the first Bulgarian Empire when the Turkic Bulgars were outnumbered and assimilated by Slavs.

Sounds the most plausible. Several words exist with rus- as a prefix, universal to most Slavic languages, as well as some alternate theories.

    Rusalka - Mermaid
Русый/Rusyj - light brown, referring to hair color.
    Ruslan - given name

There was also a suggestion that it's related to the Sarmatian tribe Roxolani

Same with the Wisigoths in Iberia. There was some influence in the language and Germanic names became trending topic, but that was not enough to change a solid massive Roman base.
