The UK has always done everything the way it wanted. It was considered by most as a drag on the EU.
Most people now want the UK to leave asap, for British citizens to return home and most people want to implement visas for British travelers in the EU.
The UK is the one who wanted to establish double standards in the first place.

I think the best thing for Europe, it's the destruction of the European Union, so monstrous appendage only useful for the good will of Germany and its formidable export industries.
A Europe united under a common market, with flexible rules of free movements but keeping control, and each State retains its full power of decision.
We can make a united Europe without creating a chimera as destructive for the people is the European Union.
This is just my humble opinion.

I am glad that you love you as Anne Rice.
But on this point, I have a very definite opinion.
I have my reasons, and I understand and respect entirely that you're a different view from mine.
The richness of the debate is there.
I guess may be wrong, that you are in favor of the European Union?
Is the current European Union actually agree with you?
You think that we should not see its shape, its purpose, its operation?

I do not really have such a drastic point of view. I see the pros and the cons of being in the European Union. Not everything is black or white.
Some pros:
- Reinforced business relations
- Intra-European mobility which enables to share skills (working with two italians, one german, two dutch guys, 4 brits and I'm loving it)
- Long lasting bonds
- Ecological aspects (gotta thanks northern countries for that)
- Secure manifests and policies
Cons:
- Oligarchy
- Single currency
- Poorly dealt with immigration
Those are just rough ideas as the EU is a very complex concept. I do feel European nonetheless and I do think we work better together.
