After 100 years of migration of Anatolian Greeks, mainland and Anatolian Greeks have become one. 35-40% of Mainland Greeks have Anatolian Greek admixture and same goes for Anatolian Greeks. Besides that at least 1/3 of Peloponnesus has Byzantine Anatolian Greek origin from Byzantine settlers.

Western turkey is inhabited by 'balkan looking' people (if we exclude recent arrivals from central anatolia & kurds). some are converts(muslim balkanites), majority are ethnic turks who intermarried with balkanites for centuries. Almost every greek can pass in turkey. too slavic looking greeks can look ayptical, and ofcourse there are also afro/exotic looking people in greece(islanders, cretans). they won't pass in western turkey but can pass in southern/southeastern turkey (kurdo-arab mix).

I have visited greece twice. when i was younger, i used to follow european basketball(euroleague,saporta cup,koraç cup etc). i think i have seen enough greeks to make judgement.
