What I'm seeing so far is mostly pretty generic.

Yes, I wrote it on guitar. I have probably composed 25 songs over the years, about 12 of those I still like and play regularly. I have performed my songs at open mic nights, but really these are private songs. I write them in a burst of creative expression usually over 2 or 3 days, then continue to tweak them ever after. Songwriting is a very exciting and cathartic experience for me but does not happen very often, maybe 2 or 3 times a year.

Um, because.
Spoiler!
I kind of took your poem as fighting against an enemy that happens to be love, or maybe the enemy is the feeling of “in love”.
Sometimes I like to write something I consider opposite to what’s there so I can better understand? That’s why I feel like it’s a poem about fighting against falling in love.

Just now? Damn, that's fantastic.
My poem is a bit layered in being read both as the the ending of a stormy relationship and looking into the eyes of someone that no longer loves you.
Where it must be confusing, was that it was written about someone with bright blue eyes, and longing for the sparkle they once had.
