I don't know whether it's that much, North Dutch are notably shifted towards Insular Celts compared to Danes, quite a few North Dutch/Frisians plot with Irish/Scottish genetically. They could have a decent amount of original Bronze Age 'Northwestblock' ancestry, but probably not more than 25%. Very little actual Celtic ancestry though, which is what separates you from South Dutch.

To me it seems like the North Dutch and Frisians who plot with Irish/Scottish genetically are ancient migrants since the Bell Beaker culture wasn't that widespread throughout the Netherlands, definitely not prominent in the Northern Netherlands. I was more referring to actual Celtic ancestry which is no more than 5% in Friesland.

Fair enough, but I was under the impression that (Single Grave) Bell Beakers came from the Netherlands, it's their homeland! British/Irish Beakers were descended from Dutch Beakers. I think it's a good explanation for why the Netherlands is so Western shifted, despite being so heavily Germanic.

Anglo - Saxons were not called so, before the invasion. They were just Angles, Saxons, Jutes , part of the North Sea Germanic Branch. Frisians were a kin to them. Their most common phenotype is the Germanic Nordid or Anglo-Saxon phenotype. This Nordid type is anthropometrically between the Hallstatt Nordid and Tronder type. It’s most commonly see in the Frisian Islands and Eastern England.

Aren't Frisians quite close to Insular Celts genetically anyway? The way I look at it now I just look at populations as being Northwestern European. I know some trolls (you know who you are) start carrying on saying I'm a Nordicist for stating factual information that Irish are Northwestern Europeans. What do they want me to do? I don't know what the psychology is behind some people. Most probably some Germanic supremacists. That's likely what it is. In fact Germanics are quite diverse and they have different contributions to their ethnogenesis which is why one Germanic group can be quite distant to another. All I will say is I wish people would be able to analyse genetics without biases and should be able to discuss these topics rationally and calmly. I'm quite happy to be called an Insular Celt or even better a Gael but yes Gaels, Britons etc are just as Northwestern European as Frisians.
