We need this thread. A couple I have seen recently :

Terminator 4 - 6/10 Disappointing. Christian Bale was good in American Psycho, he doesn't ruin this film either, it's rather the film that ruins him.

The Hangover - 9/10 Thumbs up. Those four characters who wake up after a night of drunken stupor have obviously a hard time remembering what did they do. And then a movie is out of this. You HAVE to watch it, especially for the Mike Tyson part when he drums "in the air tonight", from Phil Collins and punch one man. Best US comedy in a while.

The taking of Pelham 123 - 7/10 Good, nothing extraordinary though. It reminded me a lot of Die Hard 3. I guess they were inspired by this film. Decent playing from John Travolta and Denzel Washington.

Was watching Rise of the planet of the Apes yesterday. I think both Rise and Dawn are good.

Recently I watched again Pavel Lungin's movie called "Остров" ("The Island") and the British comedie movie "Hott fuzz" with Simon Pegg. The city of God was boring film for me. Never heard of Tropa de elite, Ive googled the trailer and looks like an action movie with gunfire and shit. Paraisos Artificiais is more calm and storytelling movie. Btw, its Brazil/Dutch production and there are important for the narrative scenes, shot in Amsterdam :)

Tropa de elite is very good believe me and it's not an action movie. It's based on true events and the actors won't let you down in their performances.

Overwhelming oriental depictation such as all random women wearing burqa which hardly ever exists today, almost every scene taking place in unknown back alleys and police cars from 1970's made me wonder if there's some other Istanbul on this planet that I'm not aware of.
