All of you guys seem to have Macedonian ancestry to certain degrees. This is honestly the reason why i believe Macedonians and Bulgarians are so similar genetically.

I'm guessing your family left Zagorichani after the massacre committed by the Greeks there in 1905.

"I doubt whether anyone can from merely reading the consular reports and monthly statistics of crimescommitted by the Greeks, form an adequate conception of the intense suffering of the Macedonian population of this unfortunate region".

I have no information about it. Probably was before that or for some reason everybody forgot about it. I found some guy on facebook from Resen, Macedonia with the same family name, but he refuses to talk to me.

There are many reasons for it, but that's another conversation that leads to insults and hysteria. In the same manner, I can claim the opposite and still be correct. Anyway, I'm just trying to explain my atypical results and I've finally found people close to me.

Not that I'm aware of. I tracked my ancestors until 1878 and all of them are from the central part of Bulgaria. My DNA is very atypical for the region.

BTW, it would explain my enormous love for the song "Makedonsko Devoiche".

It's more ancient than that. Bulgarians and Macedonians have native and Slavic in similar proportions.

But you can't. There's no sources which state a large influx of Bulgarians to Macedonia. But there is evidence of Macedonians migrating all over Bulgaria in large numbers.

There's noting wrong with that. Just makes you think what the results would have been if Bulgarains never had a such a big genetic impact from recent Macedonian settlement in Bulgaria.

Oh God, here we go again. I seriously don't want to lead this conversation, because I don't care. I pursue strictly egoistical purpose in DNA.

The migration of Macedonians to Bulgaria is a recent phenomenon, in the last 15 years, for economical reasons (work, study). Before that, there was a migration of Bulgarians from Macedonia to Bulgaria. My family viewed themselves as regionally Macedonian and ethnically Bulgarian, and probably so did most of the people who went to Bulgaria, otherwise they would have gone to Yugoslavia, like your family did.

The results would have been pretty much the same if there wasn't any migration, Bulgarians with no ancestry from Macedonia score similar, so do Romanians from Wallachia, Montenegrins and some Albanians.

Yeah , but there were many migrations by Macedonians from Macedonia to Bulgaria and also by Macedonians from Aegea Macedonia to Bulgaria especially around Black Sea.Im not speaking about last few decades, i speak about 100-120 years ago, thats nothing wrong, people migrating in past too often,i want to say for example Southwest Bulgaria by census records till 1945 year was populated by Macedonians like 80%,also from US State Department document shows census of 1956 year in Bulgaria with around 200,000 Macedonians who live there, but again i know this conversation will lead in wrong way ,im not fighting bro just discussing, i think many of these migrations and other circumastances made us very close and thats good !Cheers brate!

When did i say my family went to Yugoslavia? Half are from Lerin, the other half from Bitola. It is a 20 minute drive between those two towns. Exactly the same stock of people really.

The Macedonians migrating to Bulgaria formed a Bulgarian identity after some years spent in Bulgaria. In schools and churches, filled with propaganda.
